Welcome to the Fly Casting Education Program (FCEP)! Regardless of your casting skill level, FCEP has something for you. From beginner to advanced, whether looking to learn and improve or become a certified casting instructor, FCEP has a path forward for you. Our website has a wealth of information, including articles and videos, and our certified instructors have the training and teaching skills to take your casting to the next level. They strive for excellence in casting instruction so the angler can expect to learn new skills in a welcoming, fun environment.
In September of 2023, the Fly Casting Education Program was launched to build on the work of the Casting Board of Governors. The structure built into FCEP was derived through extensive planning and effort and emphasizes two functions of equal importance: teaching fly casting to FFI members and non-members, and training instructors for FFI certification. The Angler Casting Education component supports casting instruction for fly fishers of all skill levels. The Casting Instructor Education component encompasses the pre-existing Casting Instructor Certification Program and more robust support for certification preparation and instructor development, before and after certification. These two components of the FCEP are linked through the emphasis on teaching, continued learning, and instructor development. A Leadership Team provides direction and oversight.
